Mandate

The WRCLA is the voice of the cedar industry representing both manufacturers and distributors.

It seeks to inspire, inform and instruct discerning consumers, selected builders and architects about Western Red Cedar, the ultimate natural building material.

The overriding objective is to enhance the demand and to support the species’ value proposition by profiling its benefits, uses, and application in a comprehensive market development program.

Primary Goals

WCRLA established five long term goals associated with achieving its mandate as follows:

1. Promote WRCLA as the go-to source of information on Western Red Cedar
2. Promote Real Cedar as a superior natural building material, based on its beauty, value, and sustainability
3. Promote a broadening of WRC use in line with the changing nature of the resource
4. Support proper use of Western Red Cedar in design and application
5. Maintain sufficient financial and organizational resources to support programs
