DIY Project of the Week: Backyard Picnic Booth

Incredible Backyard Booth Adds Versatility to any Outdoor Space

Texas-based designer and builder April Wilkerson has launched a great new Real Cedar project that works perfectly as a cozy place to eat, a relaxing nook to crack a cold one, or even a cool outdoor office where you can get some work done in the shade.

Dubbed the Backyard Booth, the built-in table and seating area pergola features ultra comfortable curved seating, a table, Western Red Cedar louvres and an easy to install transparent UV-resistant roof.

“I absolutely love this thing,” Wilkerson comments on its completion. “It turned out really good looking, but it’s also full of function.”

The functional side of the project is seen in its see-through roof that safely shades you from the sun, and the working cedar louvers on the three sides of the pergola that flip open and closed to allow a cool breeze through the booth or to block the sun.

The choice of Real Cedar as the building material was an important aspect as well. Not only does Western Red Cedar have a beautiful grain, color and luster, but it is naturally resistant to rot and pests, so it will stand up to the elements and keep looking great. What’s more, it’s 100% sustainable and renewable.

Definitely another project to put on the “to do” list. Looking for more free DIY project downloads? Click the link here
